The Longer Bio

Shane Snow is an award-winning author, entrepreneur, and storyteller whose work spans books, Broadway, film, and conference stages around the globe. He's the author of three books — Smartcuts, Dream Teams, and The Storytelling Edge — which use science and history to unearth hidden insights about human behavior and business. Shane's writing as botha journalist and researcher has appeared in The New York Times, Wired, Fast Company, Harvard Business Review, Forbes, GQ, Psychology Today, and dozens of other publications, and his LinkedIn and Substack newsletters reach hundreds of thousands of curious thinkers each week.

Shane has built, run, advised, and sold multiple companies, in which he's applied the innovation lessons from his research and books. He co-founded Contently, which pioneered the content marketing industry and helped over 100,000 freelance writers get work with organizations like Coca-Cola, American Express, and Marriott Hotels. He also founded SHOWRUNNER Technologies, which developed award winning virtual production filmmaking technology to lower barriers for independent filmmakers; Snow Academy, whose leadership and soft skills training has been recognized as a top coaching program for Fortune 500s and government agencies; and most recently the film and TV production companies The Mad Ones and Container.

Shane is a Tony Award-winning Broadway and film producer. He has performed comedy himself on Broadway, and his film producing work has won dozens of awards at international festivals. He served on the Advisory Board of the Columbia University Entrepreneurship Council, was a founding advisor to the billion-dollar startup Substack, and currently advises the media platform Narratively.

A self-described "multifarious explorer," Shane grew up in Idaho taking apart modems, climbing abandoned potato silos, and reading every book he could get his hands on. Those instincts—curiosity, a love of dismantling things to see how they work, and an obsession with exploring hidden places—have driven everything in his career from investigative journalism exposing illegal gun traffickers, to neuroscience research measuring human brainwaves, to driving across rural Cuba in search of lost historical figures. All of it, ultimately, in pursuit of stories to tell and new ways to think.

Shane is married to Guatemalan-American producer and showrunner Sylvia Brindis, with whom they have an an adorable kid and a hilarious shih-tzu. They currently split time living between Mexico City and Texas.
